Ritani, TheKnot.com launch engagement e-cards

September 09, 2009
After choosing a background and uploading photos of themselves, the bride- and groom-to-be will be able to send friends and family a fully animated video e-card announcing their engagement.

New York--Bridal jewelry designer Ritani and wedding Web site TheKnot.com have partnered to launch an online video application that allows newly betrothed couples to announce their engagement to friends and family via personalized, animated e-cards.

Dubbed "Announce Your Engagement," the video application is located on TheKnot.com at http://global.theknot.com/sitelets/ritani/ecard.

To begin, a couple chooses one of three backgrounds for their video: a ballroom, beach or barnyard. Next, the bride- and groom-to-be each upload a photo of themselves. From there, the couple will be able to create a fully animated greeting card in real-time. The card can be e-mailed to any number of friends and family, and posted on blogs and social-networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook.

"More and more couples have been announcing their engagements in creative and unique ways, from Facebook announcements to Twitter updates and online videos," TheKnot.com Editor in Chief Carley Roney said in a media release. "We are thrilled to partner with Ritani, to offer this fun, innovative new tool to our newly engaged couples."

TheKnot.com will promote the video application on its home page, through editorial links, custom-created house banners and in print.

In addition, Ritani will launch a branded banner campaign on TheKnot.com aimed at promoting the entire line of Ritani jewelry and driving consumers to Ritani retailers.

Ritani and TheKnot.com have also developed a "button" that retailers can load onto their Web sites that will link directly to the Announce Your Engagement application. The button is now available for immediate use and can be found via Ritani's Web site, http://ritani.com/announceyourengagement/linktous.php.

To top off the promotions, Ritani will sponsor a "You're Engaged" sweepstakes beginning today and running through Dec. 31, 2010. Individuals can enter by visiting http://global.theknot.com/sitelets/ritani/ecard, creating a video e-card, completing the on-screen entry form and entering five unique e-mail addresses of friends that will receive the e-card.

"We're delighted to partner with the leading authority in the wedding space on such a fantastic, creative new application for their site," Ritani President Joel Klein said in the media release. "There is no other company better suited to reach the newly engaged couple than The Knot. We have no doubt these 'Announce Your Engagement' video e-cards will most definitely be fun for everyone!"
